Why each iPhone gets its own wallpaper size

iPhone screens have changed shape over the years: the 16:9 iPhone SE and iPhone 8 have a home button, iPhone X through iPhone 14 have a notch, newer models have the Dynamic Island, and iPhone Duo's inner screen is nearly square. When a wallpaper doesn't match your screen, iOS zooms it until it fills the display, cropping the edges. Cutting each wallpaper to every model's exact resolution avoids that.
