iPhone Duo wallpaper size for the cover and inner screens

iPhone Duo has two screens with different wallpaper sizes. The 5.4-inch cover screen is 1398 × 2034 pixels. The 7.6-inch inner screen is 2670 × 1878 pixels when you open the phone, wider than it is tall, and 1878 × 2670 when you turn it upright.

The two screens

Closed, iPhone Duo is a regular-looking iPhone with a 5.4-inch cover screen (5.36 inches measured as a rectangle). Open it like a book and the 7.6-inch inner screen (7.58 inches as a rectangle) unfolds into a wide display, about 50% larger than iPhone 18 Pro Max's. Both are OLED Super Retina XDR screens with ProMotion up to 120Hz and an Always-On display.

One picture on both screens

The cover screen held upright and the inner screen turned upright are nearly the same shape: 1.45 and 1.42 times as tall as they are wide. A picture made for one fills the other with only about 2% trimmed from its height. Opened flat and held sideways, though, the inner screen is wide, and a tall phone wallpaper shows only about half its height there, the same way a phone picture is cropped on an iPad in landscape.

Which size to download

Every iPhone wallpaper on this site comes in both iPhone Duo sizes, cut from the full-resolution original:

• Cover screen, 1398 × 2034: pick iPhone Duo cover screen on any wallpaper page.
• Inner screen, 1878 × 2670: pick iPhone Duo inner screen. It fills the inner screen held upright, and works on the cover screen too.

For the inner screen open and held sideways, a landscape picture suits it better. Apple's own iPhone Duo wallpapers come as separate files for the two screens, with the inner one at 2670 × 1878. Our iPad wallpapers are square, so they fill the inner screen whichever way you hold it.

Picking a wallpaper for iPhone Duo

• Keep the subject in the centre. The middle of the picture is the part that shows on both screens and in both directions.
• Choose calm edges. Gradients, skies, landscapes and abstract designs lose nothing important when the inner screen trims the top and bottom.
• Go dark for the Always-On display. Both screens are OLED, where black pixels are switched off, so a dark wallpaper looks deep and keeps the dimmed Lock Screen calm. See our black wallpapers.
• Set it as usual. Open Settings › Wallpaper › Add New Wallpaper, choose Photos and pick your picture, as on any iPhone. Our guide to setting a wallpaper on iPhone covers each step.

Display specs

iPhone Duo was announced on 9 September 2026 alongside iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max. Pre-orders opened on 16 October and it went on sale on 23 October 2026, from $1,999 with 256GB of storage, in Star White and Night Sky.
